I just wanted to let all my readers know that the presentation I gave at AWE on June 12th, 2025, is now available on YouTube. The Video is 27 minutes long, including about 7 minutes of Q&A, and covers many of the practical and technical issues facing glasses form factor AI glasses, which include a display.
While on the subject of speaking at conferences, I will be speaking at the combined ARVR and MicroLED Connect conference in Eindhoven, Netherlands, from September 24th to 25th. If you plan to attend and would like to meet with me, please send an email to meet@kgontech.com.
The Conference is offering my readers a €150 discount if they use the discount code KarlARVR. This discount code is valid for both the “Virtual Pass” and “Hybrid Pass” for one year, applicable to both virtual and physical conferences. The discount code (or mentioning this blog) is also good for a 10% discount on exhibition packages.

Below is an outline of the presentation, including slide numbers and titles. A significant portion of the presentation addresses issues related to the use of LCOS and MicroLED display devices. Later in the presentation, I discuss applications plus issues related to cameras, including their privacy and social issues.
That’s it for today. I’m working on some more articles about what I saw at SID Display Week and AWE.
Thanks for sharing video. Makes a confusing topic more understandable! Any thoughts on best LCOS providers?
First, I haven’t seen the latest LCOS devices from everyone. There are likely well more than 10 companies selling LCOS devices, but I have only seen a few of them. It also depends on what one considers as “best.” The variables price (of the device and controller), contrast, field sequential rate, optical efficiency (there are trade-offs between contrast and optics efficiency), resolution, and more. Different companies have different advantages.
Great presentation Karl.
Do you know other companies aside Kopin, May ,Himax and Raon – Tech, that sell LCOS?
Thanks,
Of the top of my head there is Citizen FineDevice (most know for FLCOS but also contract manufactures Tn and Van LCOS for others), Omnivision (most famously used in Magic Leap 1&2), Syndiant (my old company is still in business), and Snap (with their acquired Compound Photonics) that are making LCOS devices. I think I have heard of another company in Korea but I can’t remember their name and I hear there may be a few LCOS companies in China.
