Introduction – Correcting Google AR Glasses Using Raxium MicroLEDs As I often say, few will volunteer information, but many will correct you. This is the case with my supposition about Google’s XR glasses prototype. In “Meta Hypernova and Google AR/AI…

Several technology demonstrations stood out to me at Display Week (DW) 2025. This article will cover Playnitride's Quantum Dot (QD) based full-color MicroLED, combined with Lumus's geometric (also known as reflective waveguide) technology.
As I wrote in may last article, Lumus showed me a "fantastically tiny projector" connected to their waveguide.

SID Display Week (DW) 2025 is coming to San Jose, CA, May 11–16. My last article discussed the LCOS technology I saw at Display Week 2024, and this article will cover many MicroLED technologies. Of the conferences I go to regularly, Display Week has the most information I have found from MicroLED companies in one place.

Introduction January has always been a crazy month for me. I met with and/or saw presentations from over 29 companies at CES and 59 companies at AR/VR/MR and took about 2,000 between the two conferences. As discussed in SPIE AR/VR/MR…

Introduction I’m in the process of organizing all the information I collected at CES and want to combine it with things I see at SPIE’s AR/VR/MR next week. Many companies showed AR glasses with AI capability at CES, and many…

Introduction At SID Display Week in May 2024, MicroLED maker Jade Bird Display (JBD) had a large booth that showed their devices, a number of customer systems, and a “compensation demo.” JBD offered to loan me their compensation demo. After…

I divided the two-hour AR Roundtable into three parts, with this being the last and, I think, in some ways, the most interesting part. We discussed more of the motivations for Meta and Snap announcing these concept products. Brad shared some information he has heard about issues with Meta's EMG wristband control, and Jeri shared some of her past experiences with EMG-type control.

Last week I recorded a roundtable discussion of the new Snap Spectacles and Meta Orion AR glasses. We recorded for 2 hours and I just released the first 30 minutes.

Introduction: Challenge from Bosworth Accepted Several people pointed me to an interesting Instagram video AMA (ask me anything) by Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth on October 21, 2024, that appeared to challenge my October 6th article, Meta Orion AR Glasses (Pt.…

Update: A second reader with expertise in Waveguide believes (but, like my other reader, does not have direct knowledge) that the Snap Spectacles 5 is still using a waveguide with gratings on only one side. This second reader cites the…
